Specialized Pharmacy Can:
- Provide pharmacy services, on-duty or on-call, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year
- Hand deliver medications on-demand, with turn-around time matched to the specific therapeutic need and the medication ordered
- Provide flexible supply options: 15, 30, 60, 90-day, or other
- Supply custom compounded or standard compounded dosage forms to meet almost any therapeutic need or to overcome almost any patient limitation
- Provide guidance, instruction, and administrative assistance to treatment teams, on effective symptom recognition and management
- Coordinate pharmacotherapy by making recommendations for appropriate drugs or therapy, either in advance of or at actual times that drug orders are placed
- Participate in educating patients, families, caregivers, and the community-at-large about the very specialized medication handling practices during hospice care
- Ensure total compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to medications, while providing fast, responsive service to acute situations
- Minimize duplicative and adversely interactive medications
